Prepare the files before merging
Rename documents so their purpose is obvious before selection. For example, use names such as cover-letter.pdf, cv.pdf and certificates.pdf. This makes ordering easier after upload.
Open each file once to confirm that it is complete and correctly oriented. Fixing a wrong document before merging is easier than discovering the problem in the final combined PDF.
Select files from your phone
On iPhone, the browser normally opens the Files picker. On Android, the picker can show Downloads, recent files and supported cloud locations. Select the PDFs you want to combine and return to the browser.
If a document exists only inside an email or messaging application, save it to local or cloud file storage first.
Arrange the final order
Document order matters for submissions. A typical job application package might place a cover letter first, followed by the CV, certificates and supporting documents.
Before downloading, confirm the sequence. After the merge finishes, open the resulting PDF and check both the first and last pages.
- Use descriptive filenames.
- Keep the most important document first.
- Check page orientation before merging.
- Save the finished PDF back to Files or Downloads.
Mobile upload considerations
Large files take longer to upload on a mobile connection. If several scans are unusually large, compress them first, especially when working over cellular data.
For sensitive documents, avoid using public or untrusted Wi-Fi networks when possible.
Troubleshoot merging PDFs on your phone
On iPhone, save email or messaging attachments to Files first. On Android, locate the documents in Downloads or your file manager. Check that every chosen file is a PDF and that it opens before attempting a merge.
If an upload fails, try a stable connection and a smaller file batch. Check the document sequence before merging, then open the final PDF and verify the first page, last page and total page count.
